Road traffic crashes claim nearly 1.2 million lives each year and injures as many as 50 million people. Most of these deaths and injuries are preventable. At the recent Bloomberg Philanthropies Awards for Excellence in Road Safety, we recognized and celebrated the governments that are making major strides to improve road safety and save lives.
